Termite baiting technology has been around since 1989. While the whole system hinges on baiting termites to a lure and then systematically treating the infestation so the termite colony can be infested with an external poison.

Across the world, the two most frequently used chemicals are Hexaflumuron and Chlorfluazuron. These chemicals are also called Insect Growth Regulators (IGR) and they do it by being a chitin synthesis inhibitors. Termites need to shed their shell or chitin every few weeks and these chemicals invade the colony by termites not being able to suspect it and don’t allow the termites to shed their shell thereby effectively choking the termites in their own shell.
