What is baiting?
Baiting is the process of not killing a pest but feeding a pest with a slow and active substance laced in their favorite food so they can take more and more bait back to their colony & share it. In a colony all pests share the food and colony is eliminated.
Is baiting a new technology?
Termite baiting has been around since 1990s. However Decke from Australia is the first ones to ever bring it to India.
Do termites eat wood?
Termites don’t eat wood but pluck or take wood to their nest where they would convert food into a semi-liquid form and share food with all colony members.
Where do termites live?
Termites live in an underground colony where they have a queen that produces 30,000 eggs per day. They are of 3 types
- Soldiers- that guard the colony and queen
- Alates – the only ones with wings and that can reproduce and will become future queen or king
- Workers- that you see at your home when they come to get food for all their colony members.
The queen termite is the head of the colony.
Can spraying kill termites?
Broadly the answer is NO. Because unless you klll the termite queen, you cannot get rid of termite problem. Sprays can only kill what is on surface. The next underneath is producing 30,000 eggs and termites per day.
